COMPUTER NETWORK

Computer network is the interconnection of two or more computers for the purpose of sharing resources.  A computer network is mad of client and server computers. A computer network connects to the network and uses shared resources is called a client while a central computer that contains shared information is called a server. On the server computer you will have to install the server’s operating system while the clients are then set up to connect to the server.

Connecting To A Server

All the client’s computer will require connection to the server before they can benefit from the resources available on the server computer.

Requirements

Before connecting to a network, there are rquirements for the installation

-          Hardware requirements

-          Software Requirement

To connect to a network, you need the correct haedware install on your computer.  This includes a network adapter(Network card or other devices) and cables. Along with hardware the computer must have certain software components to communicate with the network.

The software needed to connect to a computer includes the following.

·         Client Software: This software allow you to connect to the server.

·         Protocol:  The protocol is the software which is essentially the language your computer uses to communicated over the network.  Two computer must used the same protocol to communicate with each others.

·         Service Software:  This is the software which allows such functions as file and print sharing.
