WIRELESS
ROUTERS
A wireless router integrates a wireless access point
with an IP router and an Ethernet switch. The integrated switch connects the integrated
access point and the integrated Ethernet router internally and allows for
external wired Ethernet LAN devices to be connected as well as a single WAN
device such as a cable modem.
ADVANTAGES
OF WIRELESS ROUTERS
i. They are equipped with modem, network switch and
wireless access point (devices use to connect computers and other network
devices).
ii. They can be connected to/from anywhere in an
environment.
iii. Some of the wireless routers are equipped with a
built in firewall to ward of intruders.
PROBLEMS OF WIRELESS ROUTERS
i. The wireless routers are slightly slower than
the wired connection.
ii. Wireless router is more prone to security
threat.
iii. Wireless router is always affected by congestion
owing to interference from other devices such as Bluetooth, cordless telephone,
microwaves etc.
